Every year, the Challenge witnesses some hilarious antics from entrants, who unwind over the fishing festival.<\/p>\n
This has been the cornerstone of the event, regardless of how many trout make it to the net, it really is all about the laughs and relaxation time that fishing buddies get to spend together.<\/p>\n
But put any group of lads in a pub and throw in a bit of talent that happens to be passing through Notties and you’re likely to have one of the fishing rules “No stripping of egg bound hens” be disregarded in this context. Cock sure bachelors start strutting and those spoken for run the commentary keeping us all in stitches!<\/p>\n
However, we have still yet to see any real spawning activity, on the fish front that is, which is a very strange, considering that we are halfway through June. Ordinarily by late May, we would expect to see the cock fish tailing the hens and taking the attractor patterns aggressively.<\/p>\n
Put it down to whatever you hang your weather hat on, the fact is that in terms of consistent cold temperatures, the Natal Midlands is a month behind it’s Winter schedule<\/p>\n
Yet, despite the weather being unseasonably warm, so far we’ve racked up 256 in the first leg and 317 in the second, totaling a respectable 573 trout released!<\/p>\n
A pleasing result for the ROAM FREE conservation initiative!!<\/p>\n
And there’s been a few milestones that have been achieved in the first two legs of this year’s Corporate Challenge.<\/p>\n
Firstly we eclipsed the 10 000th trout caught and released in our competition, well done to Clinton Savage who won a trip to the Zambezi for submitting his release!<\/p>\n
Then one angler caught the top 3 fish, being a 57cm, 58cm and 60 cm in a 30 minute session all on the new WildFly Minnow. Deserved congratulations to Frank Fergusson.<\/p>\n
The Top fish of the 2nd leg was a 59cm Rainbow caught by Alex Berry and the best angler, who landed 20 trout over his four sessions (although only 12 counted for his team score) was Charl Weber, a great effort.<\/p>\n
And to top it all off, more importantly, we have a whole bunch of new teams that have made it through to the final this year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
